Summary0000575: big issue in 0.12 stable
DescriptionHI,

On win stable I create a box and I can not modify it's dimensions. If I click on any box that has dimension input in properties panel, the value is reset to zero and I can not change it to anythoing valuable

I know that stable is kinda old, but it is still stable, and it has big bug in it. This kind of bug is the one that makes new comers say "this does not work" and walk away.

Regards
Petar

Using FreeCAD_0.12.5284_x86_bin I cannot confirm this behaviour.

Hi,

I figured out what caused the problem. It is in win regional settings.

I'm using another programm that has some issues if decimal symbol is comma "," so I have changed it to dot (I'm on croatian regional settings).

The problem seems to appear if in win regional settings you have same symbol for decimal separator and digit grouping symbol. I was having dot in this two fields and the problem waas there. I will set digit grouping symbol to comma now. Not sure what you will do with this, but I have reported it. :-)

Petar

What Windows version do you have? On Linux (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=559846) we had the same problem a few years ago. It seems to be a problem with the OCC kernel if comma is used as decimal separator. The trick to solve this issue there was to set some environment variables at the startup of FreeCAD before the OCC libs are loaded.

Hi,

I'm using win7 on 32 and 64 bit.

The problem does not appear if I have comma as decimal separator, but if I have same symbol for digit grouping symbol and decimal separator.

problem appears in next two situations:

Decimal Separator == '.'
Digit grouping symbol == '.'

or

Decimal Separator == ','
Digit grouping symbol == ','

problem does not appear in next two situations:

Decimal Separator == ','
Digit grouping symbol == '.'

or

Decimal Separator == '.'
Digit grouping symbol == ','

take a look at the picture.

I'm pretty sure this is QT thing, since it has something to do with user interface only.

It is easy to reproduce. Please try.

Petar

Yes, this is a Qt thing. However, it really doesn't make sense to have the same symbol for a group and decimal separator.

I agree. It's not that big issue when I found out what the problem is.

you can close it.
