|Summary||0001160: Freecad sometimes 'forgets' the ability to handle stp files|
|Description||When I start Freecad (current daily build from ppa on Ubuntu 12.04) I sometimes cannot open stp files. They are not listed in Open file dialog and if I try to open some through all files nothing happens.|
It can be repaired by opening the Schenkel's step file from Start page. After that any stp file can be opened through Open file dialog again.
|Tags||No tags attached.|
Where are these STEP files located? Somewhere on a network share, a mountable device or on your harddisk?
What is your default startup workbench? Maybe it helps to post your user.cfg file (it's under $HOME/.FreeCAD).
These step files can be located anywhere, I have faced this issue with files on my HDD. When I open 'Open file' dialog, they are not even listed among known filetypes. Check attached screencap with error after clicking on stp file that I have among recent files. Surprisingly it can be opened again after opening Schenkel's step file example.
My user.cfg is also attached, but I have tried to delete all user settings when I met this issue first time and it had not any influence.
